Social Emotional Learning Routines with AI as a Support Partner
(Course 1 of 3 for those taking the Human Centered AI in the Age of SEL bundle; courses can also be taken individually)
Overview
Educators care about SEL. Many already have something in place. But when SEL feels uneven, unsustained, or disconnected from daily teaching, the issue is rarely intent. It is the absence of a practical, grounded approach that holds across the demands of a school day.
This course gives educators that foundation. Rooted in the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) competency framework and a critical approach to AI use, it offers a structured starting point for weaving SEL into daily classroom life. Educators explore how AI can serve as a support partner for reflection and planning, while keeping human connection, educator judgment, and learner safety at the center of every decision.
In this asynchronous course, educators will build a strong foundation in SEL frameworks and AI literacy, deepen their understanding of emotional intelligence, and design daily SEL practices for their classrooms. Across its modules, educators will explore why SEL matters, how emotional intelligence drives meaningful competency development, and what it looks like to implement SEL schoolwide.
You'll discover:
How SEL frameworks and emotional intelligence work together to create meaningful, lasting impact in classrooms and across school communities.
Hands-on AI experiences for self-assessment, visual modeling, scenario-based emotional response practice, and classroom routine design that bring SEL concepts to life.
Practical strategies for modeling emotional intelligence and translating SEL knowledge into daily routines ready for immediate implementation.
With AI as a thoughtful support partner, educators walk away with concrete SEL classroom routines and a deeper understanding of how to keep human judgment, relationships, and context at the center of every practice.
