Cultivating Learner SEL Skills with AI as Practice Partner
(Course 2 of 3 for those taking the Human Centered AI in the Age of SEL bundle; courses can also be taken individually)
Overview
Educators know that SEL matters for learners. But when the focus stays only on learner behavior, the missing piece is often the adult in the room. When educators are stretched or not yet tending to their own social-emotional growth, the conditions for learner SEL skill development are harder to establish and sustain.
This course addresses that gap directly. It begins with adult SEL capacity because educator modeling, responsiveness, and emotional fitness are not separate from good SEL practice. They are the foundation of it. From that foundation, educators move into skill-building for learners, with AI as a partner in practice for reflection, scenario simulation, coaching, and goal setting.
In this asynchronous course, educators will strengthen their own social-emotional skills and apply that foundation to foster resilience, self-awareness, and self-regulation in learners. Across its modules, educators will build adult SEL capacity, explore how emotional awareness and modeling shape student outcomes, and design experiences that support learner growth.
You'll discover:
How adult SEL practice directly influences learner belonging and skill development in the classroom.
Hands-on AI experiences for scenario simulation, personalized goal-setting, communication coaching, and reflective journaling that support both educator and learner growth.
Practical strategies for co-designing social-emotional mindsets with learners and building resilience into everyday classroom culture.
With AI as a partner in practice, educators walk away with a resilience toolkit and actionable routines you can bring directly into your classroom, all while keeping human judgment, relationships, and context at the center.
